Custom DK1 maps - how to use them Il y a 3 Années, 1 Mois Mana: 0
Question as in topic. I downloaded some custom maps from sites, and tried to play them - from what I've read they should be choosable from Deeper Dungeons menu, after placing the files in "Levels" folder, but it doesn't seem to work. Anyone can help me with that?

To play Deeper Dungeons levels, you need to modify the 'DDISK1.LIF' file indide the 'LEVELS' folder.

Open the '.LIF' file provided with the level inside Windows Notepad (open Notepad, drag the file inside Notepad window and drop the file). Copy the line you see, open 'DDISK1.LIF' with Notepad, paste it and save the file.

Start Deeper Dungeons. You should be able to see your level in Deeper Dungeons level menu.

Hmmm, I checked by reinstalling and it seems that problem runs deeper then I thought - since I'm using DK Gold and install both DK and DD at one shot originally there is NO Levels folder - the one I had was made when I installe level editor, and doesn't have "DDISK1.LIF" (only ddiskmp.lof and dklevles.lof, but neither of those files handles custom levels). And making the file doesn't seem to work either :/

To play custom maps:

1. Copy all the "Levels", "Data" and "LData" folders from your DKGold CD and paste them into your "Keeper" folder on your hard drive.

2. Remove the "Read only" for all files you just copied from your DKGold CD.

3. Open "Keeper.cfg" using a text editor, you should see something like this:

INSTALL_PATH=X:KEEPER (where X is the letter of your CD-ROM Drive)
INSTALL_TYPE=MAX
LANGUAGE=ENG

Change the first line (INSTALL_PATH) so that it points directly to your "Keeper" folder on your hard drive. E.g.: INSTALL_PATH=C:GAMESBULLFROGKEEPER

4. Install your levels into your "Levels" folder on your hard drive.

5. If the installed level doesn't have a .lif file in the pack of level files, you can either create a new .lif file or modify DDIDK1.lif. For both ways, you must use a text editor like Notepad. Write down inside that folder the number of the level you just installed (for example: you installed level with files MAP00376.***, then the number must be 376) followed by a comma, then write the title of the level after that.
Example:
376, Title
Do that for every level you've installed. You can add a new line instead of creating a new .lif file.

6. When done, start Deeper Dungeons and it should be in the level list. Just click on the title and play!

7. If you don't want the level to be in the level list (but that is still in the level list of the level editor, like for multiplayer levels), do the same thing, but with the .lof files.

8. After you've done all that, copy "Editor.exe" from the "Editor" folder on your DKGold CD and copy it into your "Keeper" folder on your hard drive. Then, copy the files (not the folders) into "Levels" folder in the "Editor" folder on your CD and paste them in the "Levels" folder on your hard drive. Do the same thing with the "Data" folder inside the "Editor" folder on the CD.
